CORPUS is an interdisciplinary exhibition featuring works by Yiming Tang and Xinzi Luo, curated by Eliza Xinping Tan and presented in collaboration with LUMO.
Centered on the idea that “what reaches completion begins to die,” the exhibition explores the body, desire, memory, belonging, and the unfinished nature of human connection. Visual art, soundscape, and live performance come together to create an immersive environment in which sound and image continually reshape one another.
the Exhibition
WHAT REACHES COMPLETION BEGINS TO DIE.
CORPUS begins with a simple proposition: the first boundary we possess is skin. Yet skin is never a sealed wall. Heat, touch, desire, pain, memory, and the presence of others continually move across it. The body becomes less an autonomous object than something porous, exposed, and permanently altered through encounter.
Rather than treating incompletion as failure, CORPUS considers it a condition of vitality—an open structure in which difference remains negotiable and new relationships can still emerge. Across the works of Yiming Tang and Xinzi Luo, the exhibition explores distance, attachment, memory, and the possibility of connection without demanding closure or wholeness.
SOUNDSCAPE
AS A SECOND MATERIAL
SOUNDSCAPE & MUSIC DIRECTED BY IVY JIN
Developed under the soundscape and music direction of Ivy Jin in collaboration with LUMO Entertainment, the exhibition’s sonic environment is conceived not as an accompaniment to the artworks, but as a second material within the exhibition. Sound moves physically through space and through the body, extending CORPUS’s exploration of boundaries, proximity, and encounter.
Rather than treating music as an illustrative layer, the soundscape functions as a form of spatial dramaturgy, shaping the rhythm of the exhibition and the shifting relationship between body, artwork, and architecture. Quadraphonic sound design by Silvan Tang and original music by Raven Tao extend the exhibition’s ideas of porosity, interruption, distance, and becoming into real time and space.
THE ARTISTS
YIMING TANG
XINZI LUO
Yiming Tang approaches incompletion through suspension. His paintings place figures within psychologically charged and unstable spaces, where gestures, fragmented communication, and nonlinear narratives suggest relationships that remain unresolved. His images often resemble suspended frames from a larger cinematic sequence, something has happened, or is about to happen, but the full story never arrives.
Xinzi Luo approaches incompletion through possibility. Across painting, sculpture, and mixed-media installation, stairways, bridges, passages, shelters, and fragmented architectural structures emerge within shifting terrains. Her spaces move between arrival and departure, landscape and architecture, memory and imagined futures.
CORPUS remains between these two positions: suspension and possibility, distance and connection, without insisting that either resolve into a complete whole.
